Training Architect

The Training Architect will deliver client training sessions both on the customer site and in the local office. These trainings will primarily be classroom style, but there will periodically be webinar training sessions. This position will focus on PowerPlan’s tax suite of products (PowerTax, Provision, Tax Repairs, and Property Tax).

Key Performance Objectives

  1. Successfully deliver classroom training with high customer satisfaction: Classes can vary in size from 5 for a small class to 25 for a large class and are typically between one and four days. The Training Architect will need to be able to present the training content in a professional, polite and concise manner. They must be able to ensure that customers have a good understanding of the training materials after the conclusion of the class.
  2. Fully understand the software functionality and standard processes: The Training Architect should be able to speak to all system functionality in the assigned products. Additionally, they should be able to understand the standard processes that are done in the system and explain them to customers in a succinct way.
  3. Provide client specific problem solving based on data in the system or questions that arise: The Training Architect will need to field questions that clients ask about their specific configuration and processes. This person will need to know when to answer, when to table, and when to bring it back to professional services as potential future work.
  4. Build and update training curriculum/documentation: In order to keep the training materials up to date, the Training Architect will also be needed to assist with the creation and update of the materials as new products, features and functionality come out in the PowerPlan Tax Suite.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required-

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • 2+ years PowerPlan software experience, ideally in the tax suite of products.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful to build own training materials, with the ability to complete tasks with little to no supervision
  • Past experience in teaching/training/mentoring adults on technical topics in a formal classroom setting  Strong technical background
  • Excellent, effective communication skills, including:
    • verbal, written, listening and presentation skills
    • ability to engage and successfully interact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to adhere to a firm’s methodology
  • Skilled in MS Office Suite  Willing to travel, up to 80%

Preferred-

  • Property Tax , Income Tax or Tax Repairs expertise within an enterprise business
  • Big 4 or equivalent industry tax experience (ideally the asset centric space or utilities, oil and gas, transportation, large retail or manufacturing)
  • 3-5 years of experience with implementing enterprise software applications or training on enterprise software applications
  • Industry experience within oil and gas, mining, transportation, natural resources, utilities, energy markets or telecomm
