PowerPlan Announces 2016 Comet Award Winners

Company Recognizes Long-standing Partnerships with Company and Individual Awards

Atlanta (June 9, 2016) PowerPlan, the leading provider of regulatory, budgeting and tax solutions for asset-centric businesses, is proud to announce the 13 winners of its Comet Awards and three additional winners of its Saturn Awards.

The Comet Awards recognize companies and individuals who have leveraged PowerPlan’s technology to create significant value for their organization in the form of improved operational efficiencies, optimized financial performance or reduced audit risk.

PowerPlan is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s Comet Awards categories:

Company Awards

Best Use of Asset Accounting – nominees must demonstrate how they receive maximum value from PowerPlan’s Asset Accounting suite, utilizing it to increase cost efficiencies, improve automation and reduce errors.

WINNER: Bruce Power (Ontario, Canada)

Best Use of Income Tax – nominees must demonstrate how they receive maximum value from PowerPlan to manage their income tax obligations in an efficient, accurate and auditable manner.

WINNER: Flint Hills Resources (Wichita, Kansas)

Best Use of Property Tax – nominees must demonstrate how they use PowerPlan’s Property Tax functionality to improve processing times, reduce manual processes and increase data integrity.

WINNER: PSEG Services Corp. (Newark, New Jersey)

Best Use of Project Management & Budgeting - nominees must demonstrate how they use PowerPlan’s Project Management & Budgeting solution to drive value by managing project costs from conception to completion.

WINNER: Portland General Electric (Portland, Oregon)

Best Use of Asset Management Planning – nominees must demonstrate how they use PowerPlan’s newest solution, AMP, to improve asset investment planning decisions and minimize risk to the organization.

WINNER: Enbridge (Alberta, Canada)

Best Use of the Patent Pending Regulatory Management Suite – nominees must demonstrate how they leveraged the solution to drive value through rate case automation.

WINNER: Energy Transfer Equity (Dallas, Texas)

Best Use of PowerPlan - nominees must demonstrate how they leverage one or more PowerPlan solutions to achieve value across their organization.

WINNER: Duke Energy (Charlotte, North Carolina)

Individual Awards

Halley’s Comet for Asset Accounting – nominees must demonstrate a dedication to increasing their organization’s cash flow, retirement accuracy, automation and data integrity, while strengthening compliance, integration and analysis.

WINNER: Preston Martin, Portland General Electric (Portland, Oregon)

Halley’s Comet for Tax – nominees must demonstrate a dedication to increasing their organization’s tax savings through limited risk exposure, automated processes and accurate forecasting.

WINNER: David Avellan, TECO (Tampa, Florida)

Halley’s Comet for Budgeting and Asset Management Planning – nominees must show a commitment to increasing their organization’s project lifecycle management, including capital budgeting, maintenance, forecasting, approvals and downstream accounting.

WINNER: Hilary Eckert, Portland General Electric (Portland, Oregon)

Halley’s Comet for Regulatory Management Suite – nominees must show a commitment to improving the return on equity from regulated and non-regulated activities for their organization.

WINNER: Matt Wesolosky, Delta Natural Gas (Winchester, Kentucky) and Rickey Brocato, Energy Transfer Equity (Dallas, Texas)

Halley’s Comet for IT – nominees must demonstrate a commitment to supporting the implementation and operation of PowerPlan within their organization, while remaining focused on lowering the total cost of ownership.

WINNER: Kayla Hinson, Duke Energy (Charlotte, North Carolina) and Max Antwerp-Rangle, Energy Transfer Equity (Dallas, Texas)

PowerPlan Saturn Awards

These awards recognize individuals from PowerPlan for helping customers achieve success. The winners are:

  • Graham Miller, Manager, CSO
  • Alexey Zarnitsyn, Manager, CSO
  • The Bruce Power Implementation Team, Professional Services

The winners were formally announced at the PLANET 2016 Client Conference on May 24, 2016 in Orlando, Florida.
